I visited the club again after almost two and a half months. The first thing I noticed was that the place wan't quite as dark. I could see to find my way to the stage. I also noticed that the dancers were better looking on average than last time, but the lighting at the stage is still way too dim.

There were very few customers, so even though there were only 4 dancers, each got quite a bit of dancer attention. The dancers were friendly but not pushy. I watched the rotation twice and then got a totally satisfactory VIP dance. I like this club, but 8 is as high as I can go until they get some decent light on the stage.

I was passing by on Saturday afternoon, so I decided to check this place out. It's easy to find and open from 11am. It's a Latin place, so the dancers are plumper, and often older than you'll find at an upscale club. When I got there about 2:30 it was dead, and so dark I couldn't see the other customers, or the dancers. After stumbling, literally, to the stage I could almost make out the first dancer. After a few minutes my eyes adjusted, but it was still pretty dark by any standards.

The 3rd dancer, Cresandra, was a pleasant surprise. She used to dance at Baby Dolls under a different name, and was one of my favorites there. When she finished her set she led me back from the stage and sat down next to me. She was always a high mileage gal, and I confess I missed most of what was happening on stage from then on.

To sum up it may not be a stable of 10s, but I found one dancer friendly and ready to please, and that's enough for me.


I visited Imperial Showgirls in Pico Rivera (ISP) on a weekend night encouraged by some positive reviews about it in comparison with Imperial Theater in Anaheim (ITA) which I had visited recently. The main attraction for me was the nude laps which ISP offers but ITA doesn't.

This is not going to be a flattering review, unfortunately. The club has potential, but there were overwhelming negatives that I could not recover from. Let me start with the positive points. ISP has a nice layout and the stage has an ideal size. The seating is very comfortable, much better than in ITA. The service and security staff are courteous, and the atmosphere is friendly. There was no pressure for drinks. As for the dancers, the top two girls were very attractive. Now, the main negative points.

1. The club is ridiculously dark. It's worse than the Body Shop in West LA, which is quite a statement. You can hardly recognize the dancers. The stage show is silhouette. I can understand why the VIP area would be kept dark, but not the rest of the club and definitely not the stage.

2. The songs were way too short. I'd rather have decent length songs and no specials or gimmicks.

3. You pay for the laps in advance. Again, that's pretty much a veto for me, but I didn't know it at the time and didn't want to embarrass the girl after I accepted her dance offer, so I paid the bar in advance and did not go for further dances. Asking for payment in advance doesn't speak well of a club.

4. The 2-for-1 lap specials were confusing. Given the song length (or lack thereof =) ), lapping would make sense only during the 2-for-1. The DJ doesn't make it clear if it is a one-shot 2-for-1 or a series of 2-for-1's. Also, the "tip collection song" is sometimes announced by him to be "not a full song" without any explanation of what that means to the paying lap customer.

Admission was $10 and the drink was $6. Parking was easy and free in the lot that the club shares with other venues. There were about 20 dancers, mostly Hispanic with 2 blacks and one Caucasian. Other than the top two, the dancers were not particularly attractive. The club was not that crowded for a weekend night. The wannadance hustle was worse than ITA, but not too bad. The stage show (if you could see it :) ) was average and nudity was brief and mostly partial. I was hopeful that this would become a regular club for me since the drive is shorter than to ITA, but that was not to be.
