I have been to the Pheonix over the years but have never worked up the nerve to get a session. In addition I have never seen a lady I would like to get a dance from. Is it worth it or am I just picky?

Phoenix Adult Bookstore is on the far west end of the Downtown Des Moines business district. Since the Cinema III, approximately three miles away, is closing in a week, there may be renewed local interest in Phoenix Adult Bookstore, since the operations are "somewhat" similar. It is not a strip club, but then neither was the Cinema III. Phoenix does have live female performers continuously available. No alcohol is sold on the premises. BYOB as long as you are discreet about it.

The ladies do lingerie modeling in a private room. Their pictures are posted on the wall. Being as charitable as possible, the pictures do not inspire awe. (This is not a classy operation.) There is a $50 charge for a half hour modeling session. And, extras may be available, but I have no idea what exactly they might be or at what cost, since I didn't go for the session today. Guys - check it out and give us a report. Or, I might go back another time when I have more time to kill, and check it out for myself.

The facility is barely functional and pretty much of a dump. Everything, including the signage and the photo-display of the models, has a dingy tone. Besides the private room for modeling, there are several video-watching booths ($5 per hour) and the usual "adult books, magazines, DVDs, and tapes" These video booths are, likewise, quite dingy. I forgot to check out the bathroom but I would not hold out very high hopes for it.



Flirts is my "home club" and a good, solid place. The girls are usually very nice. The talent has dropped off from the mid-90s but it's still a nice place to go. The rules? It's very much a "hands off" club where you can't touch the girls but they can touch you. They'll grind a bit at put their tits on your face but there's no "legal" butt grabbing and you can forget about "honking the horns."

Note they have "free beer" on Wednesday nights.

Local club update. Not much to report. About the same as previous reviews. Most of the time you can be annoyed by ghetto noise that has a tendency to make all stage seats available. Cover is $5 ish, drinks are reasonable. The Exotic Dancer VIP card is honored here for 1 free drink with paid admission. Waitstaff, bouncers, bartenders, managers, etc. are easy going and friendly. Mostly locals (caucasian) hanging out at a bar that happens to have topless females and a stage. Bathrooms ok, chairs comfortable. Private dances are no touch. Dancers range from decent to stretch mark central (these are the ones that impose ghetto noise on the scene.)If you are a local the place is convenient and can be fun. I suggest to avoid tipping anyone on stage with the ghetto noise atmosphere and only tip those that are on stage with solid quality sound (that would be reasonable tempo rock or country.) This also applies to private dances. Make sure you kindly tell ghettoites why no tip or complement the ones you do tip for entertaining with quality sound. Sound volume is usually ok. Place is smokey and you will smell worse than an ashtray within 3 seconds of walking through the door. Easy vehicle parking all around. Enjoy this location while you can because the city of Waterloo is redeveloping the west side with a completion date of summer 2008. Flirts will have to relocate or close. I used to rate this club higher but they suffer from ghetto noise syndrome, as most clubs currently do, and until the managers are in charge of a quality sound program, it will only get worse. The 5 is MORE than fair.

Was here late on Thursday night, and what was amazing about the club wasn't the dancers but the other customers. There were 5 couples in the bar, there as a group, and three of the women got up on stage and were thoroughly worked over by the dancers. All these women were very attractive, 8 to one blond 10. and the 10 was the one most into it. One dancer, who I later got 3 very good dances from, gave her a "hummer" thru her panties and you could tell she was really responding to that. I was not able to talk to anybody to find out what they were doing there or if they'd be back.

We stopped by last Wednesday evening and spent 3 hours at Flirts. A couple of #7 dancers, a #5 and three or four #4's ...

The doorman was supposed to be collecting admission fees ($4), but was not at the door. We got all the way in to the bar and the doorman came out of the back and rudely dragged us back (we are husband/wife couple) being very militant, rude, etc.. The bouncers and doorman really should lighten up and smile more.

The blond lady bartender was fine.

One dancer (over from La Cross) was really nice and hung with us to closing time (when she wasn't on stage). At stage side she did a nice job of lifting wife's sweater to show boobs...nice. She turned down our invitation for breakfast and stopping back at the room.

Really small crowd, just a few locals there. If we are in the area, we will probalby go back, but would not drive far to go to the club. When we left, lots of police driving by, so don't be drinking anything and considering driving.

flirts continues to be an average club. sometimes they behave like they are doing you a favor for allowing you to enter. drink specials are usually good, some of the bouncers are ok, lots of ghetto noise, chicks are avg at best. i would say that sapphires up the street is improved to the point where they are a bit more fun. worth checking out, but if you don't like something about the scene, alternatives are available.

This club is a disappointment. There are much better places in Iowa although nothing much better in Waterloo. Girls are good looking, but the interaction between them and the tippers is lame and the private dances are a big waste of money. Nothing is allowed and they act like they are doing you a favor. The local crowd takes over and seems to have a good time. At least they are fun to watch.

flirts is still about avg. could use a good house cleaning. this club, like most clubs, has the strangest mix of real music and ghetto noise that is extremely annoying. drink specials are very good. chick variety may pick up as college is in full swing. ok for a local place but i would not go out of the way for a visit.

I stopped in again a couple of weeks ago. Again it was an ok experience. If you're in the area stop in but don't make a special trip.

I stopped in last Saturday night and it seemed like an ok place. The dances were nothing special in my opinion but I guess for Waterloo, Iowa it was ok.



12/2/04. Decor is simple and clean. Beautiful girls. Low cover price and no pushing by staff to buy drinks which were reasonably priced and priced lower throughout the evening. Dollar table dances and $20 private dances. Long dances. Girls didn't start doing table dances until after 10:00. Guest participation was wild. Half of guests were women. Good club by national standards. Great club by Iowa standards.

one of two clubs in waterloo. has had ongoing remodeling for last 2 years. latest improvement would be new chairs. cover range, $4-$5. drinks are reasonable. bathrooms are clean. staff is friendly. chicks range from 5 to 8s. very smokey, if you walk in and walk right back out you will smell like an ashtray. can be lots of fun, but tend to play lots of ghetto noise to the 98% all white crowd. private dances are no touch in a raised room toward the back. lots of locals. i used to rate this place higher, but until some areas improve the 6 is fair.
