La mansion is next door to Josephine’s. It is not a strip club per’ se but a hostess club. The building is despicable on the outside but clean and glamorous on the inside. It has a small stage but I never saw anyone dance there. There is a large wrap around bar that glows with neon. They have bedrooms with showers in the back, which along with the bar is what pays the bills. This is a great place. The good part is drinks are $1.50 the better part is the girls are fun. At the same time this is a legal business and is run very professionally and above board. Full service costs $20 short time and $28 for an hour. Anything goes. This place is very well run. There is no negotiating. The prices are set and reasonable. There is a business like counter as you go to the back rooms with a well-dressed attendant who handles all the money. She hands the girl a key, towel and a condom. Everything else goes, as you would expect. I enjoyed hanging around in this club and went several times on this trip. I may have started something there with the discrete five-dollar hand jobs at the bar. They didn’t seem to understand this at first but caught on with a little training.

I’ve been here before buy my lady friend had not. Was told there was a 4K minimum, but the guy out front, asked for the 4k which should have included my two drinks. My lady no fee to enter. Sat just off the stage and my lady did not like the place, though I thought there were some real lookers in a much understated enjoinment. Couple of girls made their way over while many avoided us. We bought 1 lady two drinks and we had two each. No pressure on the drinks or from the ladies. 45 minutes later we tabbed out and guess what My 4K at the door well that seem to have disappeared into the SJO nightlife as all 4 of our drinks were on the tab. I asked several times regarding that I paid at the door and they indicated it was not their policy. I found the doorman and he played stupid as a door knob. What was going to be a good experience and a positive review turned me off completely and I will not go back for this reason alone. Rooms available upstairs for private dances etc. Price quotes were varied depending on the dancer. But still higher than expected for a Tico place.


Free admission across the board here and seated table right near the stage. Male servers and we ordered two drinks. Less than one minute later the same waiter was pulling up chairs for ladies to join us. Nobody asked him to but here they came. Also they had not even sat down yet and the waiter was asking drinks for the girls. After two drinks more 2 for the girls we get a 6 drink tab which is accurate but the girls drinks were $20.00 each WOW. Pressure every few minute’s new girl’s new requests for drinks etc this went on for 30 minutes and I could not take anymore of this. And we left. Although no padding drinks for ladies were high, our drinks were $10.00 each, and the pressure to buy drinks was just way overboard. Place had 1 girl I would even consider doing and that’s pretty sad on a Saturday night. I can see why the CRT admins have given up here. This place lasts it will be a miracle. Room prices dropped from $250.00 an hour GIRL NOT INCLUDED down to 75$ plus the girl. Talk about a bad sales job. I hate people who drop their prices so quickly. Regardless, not my speed.

I stopped by for my friend’s sake. The strip clubs in Costa Rica are off the chart, but expensive, compared to massage parlors, dance clubs and brothels. Don’t forget prostitution is legal here.
We were met at our taxi and shown to a table by a distinguished gentleman. My friend inquired if a girl, that broke his heart last year, was still working there. She was not. Our attendant brought over some beautiful ladies that were supposed to know her whereabouts. We soon forgot all about her. It is mandatory to buy lady-drinks here, that is how their system works. There is no tipping or paying for lap dances. Lap dances are intense and included with the drinks. The attendant’s tip of 15% is also included in the tab. Our attendant, who was excellent, insisted on an additional tip. My guess is that the 15% tip is shared by all employees. The lap dances are “anything goes”. Don’t worry about getting into forbidden territory. The girls will be way ahead of you. They will guide you into all manner of pleasure. We got out of there relatively fast. It wound up costing $150 for both of us without a happy ending. We had several drinks and bought several glasses of champagne for our girls.
Now by US standards this would be great but in San Jose there is just so much more to be had.


This is my favorite place. Yes it is more expensive. But no cover charge, You pay a few dollars ($9 or so) for the first 3 drink minimum, and have some nice nude stage dancing to start. You might get a lesbian show too (no real sex) on a weekend. I found a cute Colombian girl and checked her out in the VIP area for 3 songs ($20), full nude, full contact. Ok, my motor was going. I checked out the rooms -- a king size bed,
a jacuzzi/shower and private bathroom. The waiter said $200. I negotiated down to $175 which includes everything: girl, room, even two towels and a condom. No time rush here. I seems a like lot, but the pirañas at the blue marlin start at $100 (you can get them down to $80 slometimes) and I'd still have to get room too. I was the only Gringo in the place, the rest were well-to-do Ticos. By the way, as a warning, the bar right across the street, the hookers there are transvestites, so be aware if that's not what you want.

Lip Styx
This is an average size, upscale club in the gringo section of San Jose. It’s approximately a $1.00 taxi ride. The stage is centered on the left wall as you walk in. The girls dance nude to a Latin beat. A large variety of beautiful women stand by to serve your every need. There is no entrance fee. Personal service comes from a friendly and alert staff. Clean comfortable seating. Your drinks are reasonably priced, Lady drinks of course are not. Pick out a favorite lady, your attendant will ask her what she wants to drink and keep them coming as long as she’s with you. After some small chitchat she will invite you to a more private out cove area with a wrap around couch, a table with fine linen, flowers and curtains. There is no charge for this area or the intense ‘lap dances’ and accouchements as they are included in the lady drinks, also no tipping allowed. You will build up an enormous amount of steam and your attendant will offer to close the curtains for $75.00 or rent you one of their rooms for $110.00. This stylish room is large. It consists of a living room, bathroom with Jacuzzi and of course a bedroom. It’s yours for the night and you can come and go with as many chicas as you like until closing. The chicas charge approximately $110 for as long as you like. They are available for take out for about $300 total all night. These prices are incredibly high by CR standards.


I consider Casablanca to be the 2nd best in tico land. The reasons:

Elegance: It is a very large and beautiful club, reminding me of the really good clubs in the United States. It has the feeling of comfort. Everything is first class from the furniture to the waiters' tuxedos to the dancers' clothes.

Number of dancers: It has more dancers than any club I have been to in Costa Rica. I counted 40 a couple of nights ago.

Beauty and quality of the dancers: Not first, but probably second or third. However, quite a few get a top rating.

Communications: Every waiter I have had contact with speaks good English.

Price of basic services: It is more expensive than many clubs in San Jose, but certainly not excessive considering what you receive if you only drink and watch the shows. They have a minimum of $15, but you can have three premium drinks (such as Baileys) and not exceed the minimum, with taxes and service included.

Confusion factor: If you stick to the basics, there is none. At each table there is a sign in English stating exactly what the price is for each of the basic services, such as dancers' drinks, wine, champagne, and private dances. The basic drink for a dancer is $14, which includes taxes and service, and one or two won't put you in the poor house. Glasses of wine and champagne are a little more. The tab is a printout in English of all services and costs and taxes and service charges, and the total is shown both in colones and dollars. It is easy to understand with no confusion. It is a pleasant change from a few of the clubs in town.

Prices of "premium" services: These would include bottles of champagne, a swim in the jacuzzi, and the private company of a dancer. These prices are not listed, but you can ask a waiter. Count on the fact that these will cost a lot more than in many of the not so elegant clubs. Ask first so there will be no unpleasant surprises when the tab comes.

Overall: I enjoy Casablanca very much. I usually have three drinks and buy one or two dancers a drink. The tab is $43. Sometimes I just have two or three drinks and watch the girls and the tab is $15. I think that is very reasonable.

Note: Many strip clubs have a small minimum which entitles the customer to have two or three drinks and watch some pretty girls dance and take off their clothes. I consider this to be bargain entertainment. Where most people get into trouble is going beyond this and buying a lot of drinks for dancers and having a lot of extra services. Many of these dancers throw the drinks down, and at $10 to $20 a drink in some of these clubs, the bill can get very large very fast. If you are on a budget, good self discipline will allow you to have a good time at a very reasonable cost.



check this club out for the first time its no KUMAR, the girls there be hustling for a lap dance and to buy you a drink, the girls there are about a 4 or 5 (not worth the $40 for a lap dance and $20 to buy them a drink, if i was you i'd avoid this place and go to Kumar better yet go to Zona Blue where you can get a nice message and full service or $45 fro a good 7 or 8

Casablanca
Strip clubs are basically unknown to the locals in Costa Rica. They are run strictly for tourists. This is a small modest club the action starts out very slow. The girls are pretty average looking. The only advantage to this club is its location right in the center of the Gringo Gulch action. There is no value here. I’m sure the mileage is great. I did not stay to find out. The cost and quality leave a lot to be desired.


Pantera Rosa is located south of the "Gringo Gulch" tourist area in San Jose. Expect to pay less than $5 for cab fare from most downtown hotels. Walking there at night is NOT advised. The cab ride may be unsettling as is.

Doors open at 10pm, but the place is usually slow til midnight or so. There is a cover, but I had a pass to get in, so I do not know the amount. You walk down a long hall, into a reasonably large room, with a stage toward the back, and a full bar in the back left. Stage dances end up nude, though the dancers spend most of there getting there, and relatively little time in their birthday suits. Couches dot the walls and some open areas.

They may take dollars, but it's best to pay with the local currency (colones). I'll use approximate US currency for this review.

Patron drinks are usually $3-5. Smoking is permitted. There are three types of "dances" available:

1) After sitting with you for a bit, a dancer will ask you (in Spanish or broken English) to buy her a drink. These will cost $8-10. During the time it takes her to finish the drink (usually 2-3 songs), she will give you a topless lap dance. These are done out in the open, usually in the couches along the walls. You'll get plenty of contact and grinding, and patrons can touch anywhere except between the legs.

2) Lap dances are done in a semi-private area. For $30-35, you get three dances. These are nude, and pretty much anything goes except for penetration.

3) Sexo. For $70-100, you get 20 minutes with your dancer in a small private room off of the main room.

My visit was a bit before Labor Day, on a short trip from the US. Got there at midnight, stayed til about 3am, as things were quieting down. It was not especially crowded, though on the holiday weekend it probably would have been (the city itself got very hectic). The crowd was almost all locals, only a couple of other tourists like myself. A nice mix of girls and body types, with local Latinas as well as from nearby countries (Panama/Colombia/Nicaragua). Girls rated from 4s to 9s, with only a couple at either end of the scale. The hottest girls had favorites, whom they spent almost all their time with. Most were very friendly, though only about half spoke enough English to have anything approaching a conversation. The stage dances were largely uninspired. The drink dances were quite good.

Had a very good time, though was hindered by feeling kinda lousy after flying in earlier in the day. I have seen other communities rate this as the best SC in San Jose, and it was certainly superior to the other club I visited (Le Grillon?). This is a good option among the wide variety of sexual escapades available in San Jose.

I used to love this place, but it has new ownership and has really taken a turn for the worst.

Instead of lots of hot, young spinners like in the past, when I went last week it only had one hot girl, and she knew it. She spent all her time trying to steal a local guy away from the only other girl who was semi-hot.

The other girls went very friendly, and over half the time the stage sat empty. They weren;t eve trying to please.

The back rooms have always sucked. Just a bench inside a closet, really. It was so uncomfortable that I laid down on the hard floor to let the girl do cowgiel on me. 14,000 colones (less than US$30) until climax.

Now I was told that it cost this much for only 15 minutes, or US$80 for an hour! I know that is the gringo ri-off prce, but I never got the real price out of them.

A big change. A big waste of time. It's really too bad.

I went to Pantera Rosa last night about 3am and had one of the best times ever at a strip club. The chicas were hot and very friendly...drinks for them are 4000 col...my rum and coke was 1100 col.
the small Pantera rooms are 13,600 for 15 minutes.
I had a great time with several chicas at the bar but Nicole was the hottest of all.

Nicole sat down on my lap and I bought her a few drinks. She gave me lap dances while my hands were all over her body. I spent 15 minutes with her for a CBJ for $26.00

i stopped in here on a friday night in early december 07 and it was not at all what i expected (not exactly sure what i expected actually). i walked in to find a totally packed house standing room only around a stage with 1 girl. it's a pretty small room and it can be a pain to get to the bar. shortly afer i arrived a local guy was pulled on stage and was fully undressed by the dancer (not the kind of show i was looking for). by that time i noticed that there was an elevated area in the corner of the room that had places to stand and sit and girls cavorting with customers. to get up there you have to put down something like $60 (sorry, don't remember exactly) which can then be spent on drinks and girls (yes, backroom sessions count). this was definitely worth it and i can't recommend highly enough to pay the money to get into the vip area. the host will bring you drinks and girls, who will sit and talk with you for free. you can take them to the back rooms (fully private rooms) where you can pretty much do what you want. full service was offered. cbj was offered ($20 was the rate for that). pretty good experience, would definitely go back and recommend the place

$100 for full service and worth every penny. BBBJ, DFK a real PSE. Ask for Lizette. They have rooms, no beds but couches. Lizette is tops and I felt like I was on the set of some wild porno movie banging her every way possible even standing up while she leaned against the wall.



I go to CR often and my favorite strip club is D'Palufos in San Pedro. They have crazy stage shows where they pull guys on stage and molest them then beat them with a belt. They have girls sticking bottle you know where. They put whip cream on body parts and let guys lick it off and I mean completely off. Then abour 11PM, they have girls dance for you in public for 1000 colones. Then a little after midnight, they have hot lesbian shows. The thing I like best is they have very private rooms and they only charge $14 for 5 minutes and you can get a really hot lesbian show for $28.

I heard about the club from locals a few times. There is one club in Alajuela (not sure where it is) and another in San Pedro, next to Munoz y Nanee (tell the cab driver this he will know). I visited the one in San Pedro. Parking was a bit tight but attendants were helpful.

You get padded on the front door but thankfully the padding is done by a cute girl. The cover charge was around 5,000 colones ($10) if I remember correctly and it includes 2 drinks. When you enter to your right you will find the DJ, a privado (private dance room) and the girl's dressing room. To the left there is another privado room and the rest rooms. As you keep walking you will find the main stage to your left and the bar to your right. There are a few tables… a good tip to the attendants and patience will get you one of them and this will allow you to view the shows up close. The bar is pretty useless as it is far from the show. In the back of the place there is another secondary stage and additional seating.

Now here is the info on the girls. The girls spend all their time in the dressing room, giving a privado or dancing on stage. Overall quality is reasonable with most girls ranging from a 6.5 to an 8. The girls have little or no interaction with the customers. The stage is the main attraction. The place has a pretty good dildo and lesbian shows. During the lesbian show the performers require complete silence with is always disturbed by a couple of drunk patrons.

Now to the dances, a privado was about 6,500 colones or 13 bucks. It lasts for 6 minutes and it occurs in a private room that is locked by the girls when you enter. I have a feeling everything can be negotiated. My girls performed a great hands-on dance but no feeding the kitty. A hand job and a Russian were also available. Girls also perform mini lap dances in the main stage area for 1000 colones or 2 bucks a few times every night.

Overall the club deserves a visit.

Miss this place on my last visit to costa rica so this was my first stop , D'Pelufo-takes the top spot,from the outside..not impressive but the lineup of women is better than all the others.Show starts around 9:45pm,LD are $6,500 colones for apprx.6 mins...cover $4,000 colones. I took Charlotte in for 3 dances(could use a little dental work but ok),she LD for a few minutes and before I could request any services she had my pants around my ankles giving me a BBBJ. Had to take a break for a few minutes,went back to my seat to watch the show. Apprx. 15 dancers were there last night and the weakest one was maybe a 6-7. After a breather I went in for another LD..forgot her name...you know how it is after a few....again before I could request anything..I felt a draft...my pants had gone south again to the mercy of another BBBJ.The locals just watch,a few gringos were there getting LD's. You can't use the website as a judge of the lineup,maybe 3-4 of the girls on the site I saw in the club. The majority were not even on the website,would have been excellent advertising. Can't go wrong here if you want to venture into a stripclub.

D’Pelufos is located in San Padro, on the main highway, a short taxi ride from Gringo Gulch. It’s a small dedicated building designed for a strip-sex show. The small parking lot and entrance is dirt and desolate. You enter an interlock with a glass window where you pay $12. You are patted down by a lovely chica. I have heard that for an extra fee you can sit at the stage. I sat at the stage with no fee mentioned. No tipping takes place. The arrangement in the theatre is rows of small tables with a chair on each side. There are lots of waitress and bar maids. Also lots of drinking by a rowdy fun loving crowd. The long bar to the right of the stage fills up first. The hours are 10PM to 2AM. The show starts at 10 and ends at 2. The girls are very attractive and extraordinarily talented. The announcer is Mexican and terrific. He really adds to the show. This is a real show. There is a lot of pole work and dance. There are some sex toys and insertions in all orifices. The patrons are brought up to the high stage for hands on rubbing of lotions and lubricants. At midnight sharp the lesbian show starts. It is quite good. Then there is a break for lap dances for tips. If you give then two dollars you get a two dollar dance, more for five dollars and so on. This goes on for a long time until the dollars run out. Then back to the show. After a while a volunteer is selected ‘against his will’ to be humiliated on stage. This includes a chair some ropes and two girls.
There is a square room at the back of this small building with chairs lining the walls and a very small stage. This is where the dollar lap dances take place. There are two private rooms that are available during the show for god knows what. Usually small groups of men go back with one girl. They announce that these are private shows. But after all this is Costa Rica so I’m sure that anything goes. The place is mostly locals it seems safe. There is lots of security. I would strongly recommend this as a must see while in San Jose.


This place would be my favorite but crazy pricing rules when you want to take a chica to the VIP room for full service. You have to work out the time limits with the manager prior to starting the action in the room otherwise he will be knocking on the door while you are in full swing and you have to stop to give him another 10k.
The quality of the talent their rivals any NY strip club . Real small, seedy place. Get a seat at the stage ). I was treated to hershey syrup that the young entertainer placed on strategic points of her body and summoned me to remove the syrup. Others use cool whip and one even engulfs a beer bottle in a certain area and then sprays the audience with the beer from her strong muscles. Great place but I spent alot of coin (by CR standards not Vegas standards) but it was more than worth the PSE experience I had. THIS PLACE TAKES ITS LESBIAN SHOW TO A NEW EXTREME AND WILL NOT START IT UNTIL THERE IS ABSOLUTE SILENCE. I highly recommend this place.

This is actually in "San Pedro", which is about 10 minutes by taxi from San Jose. You need to find a taxi driver that knows how to find this place. Make sure they use the meter, or negotiate about 2000 colones for the trip. The place is close to the main street in town, but is behind the other buildings. Don't bother going before 9:30, unless you need to be right up front. There is another location near the airport.

This is a true "strip club." Women go on stage and strip. It is not a brothel, although women may meet guys after the show it over. I didn't stay until 4 am to find out.

Entry fee was 3000 colones = $7 bucks and includes two drinks (soft drink, juice or beer). There is a VIP watching area (right at the stage) for 2000 colones more (including more two drinks) for the entire night. It is worth it. Tipping for each girl is not necessary at all! There is a back stage pole, but you have to maneuver with the crowd because there is no bar.

Paying for front row seats is worth it for the girl-on-girl show. You can see tongue touching pink, if you like that sort of thing. Also, one girl put an ice cube inside her kitty and shot it out. Interesting.

There is a lap dance area behind a curtain, but not many people were getting those. Supposedly (and likely) no sex at this club. Management wants to keep it a strip club. They had a special where women would get into the audience and lap dance on a guy for a couple of bucks.

The place gets crowded on Friday and Saturdays. It is a fun place.
